As part of your 3D digital thread, Geomagic Wrap provides the digital bridge for creating perfect data to use directly in 3D printing, milling, archiving, and other 3D uses.

    With advanced exact surfacing tools, Geomagic Wrap delivers powerful, easy-to-use, cutting-edge modeling functions for that flawless 3D model. Scripting and macros also automate functions for repetitive tasks during the reverse-engineering process.

    Geomagic Wrap enables you to transform point cloud data, probe data, and imported 3D formats like STL and OBJ into 3D polygon meshes for use in manufacturing, analysis, design, entertainment, and archeology.

    Auto Surfacing

    Use the Auto Surfacing feature to fit surface patches onto a mesh and create a surface body with the click of a button. This is important to design a complex, freeform part; create model data for manufacturing a freeform shape; or analyze a geometric shape.

    Auto surfacing creates a surface body that can envelop the entire geometric shape of a target mesh. It provides two different methods:

    • Mechanical: Create a surface body from a target mesh by a constructing curve network following the features.
    • Organic: Create a surface body from a target mesh by projecting an evenly distributed curve network.

    It creates a NURBS model with minimal user interaction. Its intelligent patch network tools include a choice of quad patch fitting and T-junction patches that automatically construct a 3D patch network on an entire mesh. And it creates continuous NURBS surfaces by fitting control points in the network. It is useful to:

    • Create a NURBS model from an entire mesh.
    • Assist in surfacing a complicated part.
    • Create a NURBS model from a complex, hard-to-model mesh.

    Direct Scanner Control

    Scan directly into Geomagic Control X, Geomagic Design X, Geomagic for SOLIDWORKS, and Geomagic Wrap.

    Geomagic for SOLIDWORKS supports key scanners from FARO®, Hexagon®, Artec®, Creaform®, Nikon®, and Geomagic Capture®.

    Geomagic Control X, Geomagic Design X, and Geomagic Wrap support direct 3D scanner control tools and indirect file import for every major scanner on the market.

    HD Mesh Construction

    Construct polygon objects from point clouds—which is often a particularly challenging operation for scans that are missing information or are time intensive with large data sets—and create watertight meshes faster.

    Macros

    Use automated macros for scan processing and enhanced macro documentation to speed up your everyday workflows. Use macros to record, manipulate, and replay sequences of actions.

    Macros are useful to:

    • Process jobs when computer resources are less busy.
    • Avoid idling computing resources with minute-by-minute intervention and supervision.
    • Share optimized processing with others.
    • Maximize computing resources, which helps amortize the cost of the machine.

    Dimension Tools

    Inspired by Geomagic Control X inspection and metrology software, Geomagic Wrap includes fundamental measuring tools to quickly analyze scanned parts.

    Cut cross-sections through your parts and extract and annotate angular, linear, and radial dimensions.

    Exact Surfacing Tools

    Extensive and precise Exact Surfacing tools provide you with more control over your surface quality and layout and enables total control over NURBS patch layout, surface quality, and continuity.

    3D File Export

    Immediately export 3D data for accurate downstream use including simulation, casting, and manufacturing. Geomagic Wrap provides a wide range of file export formats including WRP, IGES, X_T, SAT, PRC, Step, VDA, NEU, 3ds, dxf, oogl, iv, ply, stl, wrl, and obj.

    Reference Geometry Tools

    Extract a reference plane, vector, coordinate system, polyline, or point with multiple combinations of input. The reference geometry tools include various commands necessary for creating primitive geometries and editing the geometries.

    • Plane: Creates a reference plane. Use the created reference plane as a sketch plane for drawing a 2D sketch or as a cutting plane for cutting off an entity.
    • Vector: Creates a reference vector. Use the created reference vector as a rotation axis while creating a revolved feature.
    • Coordinate System: Creates a reference coordinate. Use the created reference coordinate as a local coordinate system for transforming a model into another coordinate system.
    • Point: Creates a reference point. Use the created reference point as a center position of a circular feature.

    In addition, you can export reference geometries.

    3D File Import

    The first step of mesh modeling and reverse engineering is to import scan data. Import 3D files in standard mesh formats, various scan data formats from multiple scanner types and manufacturers, and from other Geomagic software applications. You can choose from all common file formats including polygons, point clouds, and CAD.

    Trapped Volume Engraving

    Surface engraving can be difficult to represent visually on 3D-printed models. You can add alphanumeric and DFX-based labels underneath the part surface and then fill the trapped engraving with support material or a secondary part material during 3D printing to provide high contrast for greater visibility.

    Point Cloud Processing Tools

    Expertly handle massive mesh and point cloud data alignment, processing, and refining mesh construction with point cloud processing tools.

    Edit point clouds including:

    • Filter noise/noisy clusters from point clouds.
    • Sample point clouds.
    • Smooth and reduce the effects of roughness in a point cloud.
    • Offset point clouds by a certain distance.
    • Automatically process color textures on meshes with color scan processing.

    Convert point clouds to/from other entities:

    • Construct a poly-face mesh from a partial point cloud.
    • Convert other entities into point clouds.
    • Separate point clouds from the original point cloud.

    Unroll Geometry

    • Flatten complex, cylindrically-wrapped geometry for better analysis.
    • Unroll points and polygons for better visibility and easier work process in planar space.
    • Extract design intent from rotating equipment by unrolling products of cylindrical cross-section.
