Universities are investing heavily in 3D technologies and the future; developing the next generation of engineers, designers and technicians.
The universities are not only using the products as educational tools but building technology centres that can aid industry, providing design and prototyping services while exposing the students to real world experiences.

Feature: RMIT University, Advanced Manufacturing Precinct
We recently upgraded the 3D printing lab in the Advanced Manufacturing Precinct at RMIT University here in Melbourne. Eight Makerbots Replicator 2′ and two Replicator 2X’s were used to replace their UP! printers to better meet with demands of students and the lab environment.
The lab has been useful for instructing students on the principles of Additive Manufacturing (3D printing) and gives valuable hands on experience to this exciting field of prototyping and manufacture.
Students from Engineering and Design have been gaining valuable insights into the potentials of this new manufacturing frontier.
